The New Rochelle Police Department received a call from the New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital Emergency Room at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, when a man was admitted with multiple stab wounds.
Upon arrival at the hospital, New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa said that they located the 49-year-old stabbing victim, who had a laceration on his right arm, scapula, shoulder area, and armpit, which is believed to have cut deep into his muscle or artery.
Costa said that the investigation into the stabbing determined that the victim had been walking along Main Street with several friends when unknown suspects approached them, with one beginning to stab the victim repeatedly.
One of the victim’s friends were able to push one of the suspects off of him, at which point the two suspects entered a dark vehicle, fleeing east on Main Street toward Echo Avenue.
The victim walked west on Main Street toward Harrison Street, at which point he got into a friend’s car and drove to the hospital.
The suspects were described as being thin African American men in their 20s wearing masks at the time of the assault. Anyone with information regarding the assault has been asked to contact detectives at the New Rochelle Police Department by calling (914) 654-2300.
